| "I don't believe in school. I don't believe in an education system such as school.", strongly says a middle-aged woman sitting beside me during an ENLI class 4 years ago. "What a strange and scary woman!", I thought to myself.
Four years later, I find myself saying the same thing.
Now I believe her. Now I understand.
I was never good in school. Whenever my teacher would teach Math or English, I would find myself drawing on the last page of my notebook. I got scolded and punished for it several times. I knew it was wrong. But that's what I wanted to do. I had a hard time paying attention to things I was not interested in.
Hence, I was told I was "bobo" (dumb).
(note: tell a child he's dumb and you can go to hell.)
I do believe that school provides good knowledge and basic information necessary for a person's development & mental growth. But its current system has now finally shown its cracks and holes that is drastically affecting our society.
School punishes people for making mistakes. The punishment could be in verbal, psychological, or sometimes physical form. How does that happen?
When you made a mistake or did not comply to a certain curriculum, you would - be told you are wrong or even get scolded. - be punished by being given low grades. - get hit by something. - get detained. - be told to do certain things that would cause you embarrassment.
This type of system puts a great amount of pressure on a child to always perform well and to not mistakes. It programs the mind of a child with a simple yet very destructive thought:
"I have to perform well or I won't amount to anything."
There's nothing wrong in performing well. But with this kind of thinking, a person would now start to operate with an effective yet paralyzing form of motivation: Fear. It may keep a person working for a long time, but it will forever stunt his or her growth as a person.
What school teaches a person is competence. A necessary trait for a person to survive in a dog-eat-dog workplace. Whoever has the best credentials gets the best position. For those who are less competent, they can opt to develop a better relationship with their boss as a key to achieve a promotion they don't really deserve. Thus, company politics begin.
This system has created a global crisis that very few people are aware of. It is unforeseen by many as they are at the very center of this ongoing predicament. But there is nothing to see from in there. One has to step out of that realm to see what really is happening. Unfortunately, that realm is a trap that very few people can come out of.
On the other hand, there is a group of people who did not become a part of this system. They developed their own, instead.
I once read that a person can only be either of two things. (1 An owner of a system, or (2) a worker for a system.
School teaches and equips its student to work for an existing system. It will not teach a student how to create one. In turn, the worker, a product of the school system, has no other choice but to keep working to survive. Without realizing that his time on earth is short and limited, at the end of his life, he would be looking back with such regret that he spent a great part of his life just working and never truly living the life that he wanted.
If there's anything that sets apart the worker and the owner, it is an infinite of a gap called freedom. It is something that all people long for, yet only a few truly achieve.
Can everyone achieve freedom? A life of not having to work until death and having all the time to spend doing what you love doing? A life of fun? A life of significance?
I believe so.
Unfortunately, our freedom is not the concern of this school system. It has its own agenda for us. What it does is it programs us to think that we belong to a certain place that it would dictate. In short, the system already decides for us; what we will learn, how we will apply it, and where we will end up. For example, if a person goes to a computer school, the system would equip him to become a programmer. When he graduates, he is now prepared to work as a programmer for an existing system such as an IT company. As simple as that. The guy didn't even have the option of expressing what he wanted to do in the first place. But even if he did, he was already subscribed to a system he can hardly get out of. But what if what he really wanted to become was a dancer? Would the system understand? I don't think so.
Luckily for me, I immediately got out of the loophole. If I hadn't gotten out of it, I wouldn't have discovered my talent in dancing and other stuff. (Truthfully, if it weren't for the people discouraging me when I was younger, I would've been a singer. I kid.)
This system is the reason why the poor gets poorer(95%), and the rich gets richer(5%). The majority is subscribed to the current system, the minority is not.
Now who are the minority? Here are a few popular names:
Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, Warren Buffett, Ted Turner, Bill Gates, Donald Trump, & Michael Dell.
Most of these people did not finish school. Yet, they were able to achieve wealth, freedom, and were able to make a significant contribution to society. If there's any common denominator that these men have, it's called character.
Character is something that is built over time and is developed through all sorts of adversities.
Character can never be developed without mistakes.
Mistakes develop creativity, wisdom, patience, persistence, that in turn develops character.
And making mistakes is what the school does not support. I am not entirely against school. But I'm definitely against its current system. I hope that a change would begin to happen soon.
As I said earlier, what this current education system teaches us is competence. Although it is important, it solely is not enough to help us achieve a life of freedom. Instead, it creates competition against fellow people. On the other hand, character inspires and empowers other people.
By this time, you may have already unraveled, together with me, the secret to wealth. (I equate freedom to wealth as they are synonymous to each other) As a matter of fact, it's no secret at all. Everyone just finds it hard to believe.
"Wealth is the full development of one's character"
Fully develop your character and wealth will follow you, giving you the freedom that you've always desired.
God bless you if you've reached this line. You will soon find what you are looking for. :)
Some people say that a person should do what he or she enjoys doing. I agree, but not completely. A greater argument would be for someone to do something that matches his or her own values & priorities. For that is where you find true fulfillment. Now ask yourself that question. "What are my values?"

| 3 Kinds of People You Will Meet on Earth
1. People who don't know what they want
- They have no direction - They just do as they are told - They are doomed to failure. They never planned to fail. They just failed to plan. There's nothing to plan for anyway.
2. People who know what they want, but aren't sure if they can have it
- They have a direction, yet they can't seem to take it due to hesitation and fear - They end up doing things they did not want to do in the first place, but eventually end up getting used to it. In other words, compromise. - They are doomed to frustration. They whine and complain why they are where they are. Yet they still manage to justify their present state. The truth of the matter is they just never had the guts to pursue what they really wanted. They make silly excuses instead WHY they could not get it.
3. People who know what they want and will do whatever it takes no matter what to get it
- They have a clear goal - They are self-motivated, self-initiated, focused, disciplined, positive, committed, and relentless in the pursuit of their goal. They don't listen to criticisms and negativity from other people. They work hard to get what they want. - Bound for success. They simply reap what they sow.
Now which one are you?
(Kindly answer the question. This is a survey. Just put in either number 1, 2, or 3)

Quotable Quotes:
"Wealth does not happen by accident. It is clearly thought of, desired, planned for, acted upon, then received." "Wealth presents itself to those who want it, and are prepared for it."
"But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your forefathers, as it is today." - Deuteronomy 8:18

| It was in the middle of an afternoon. My friends and I were thinking of something to do to entertain our innocent minds.
"Holen? Kotse-kotsehan? Tambling?"
I was a skinny 8 year old w/ a highly creative mind and a fighting spirit.
As everyone was deciding on what to do, suddenly, the one thing we were all scared of was on the loose. Everyone was in a state of panic.
His name is Boomer. A big, hairy dog. No one dared to come near his cage due to the threat of being harmed or even devoured.
All of us started running towards a friend's house. But something down on the ground caught my attention. I had to be composed as I relied purely on instincts, and my instincts made me pick the thing up right away. All of my friends had already ran past me as I could hear the "beast" approaching.
There he was a couple of meters away. I ran as fast as I could towards the door as I secured the thing close to my heart with both arms. Everyone inside the house was screaming that I go faster to reach the door but in my head I knew that the time wouldn't be enough for them to open the door for me and then close it. The dog would definitely still catch me and end up harming me and the thing I was carrying.
By now he's only a couple of feet behind me. I had to make a decision.. quickly.
Instead of going towards the door, I ran towards the back alley. Unfortunately, it had a dead end which was a fence that was too high for me to jump over. As I reached the dead end, I knew my time has come. Yet, I knew in my heart that it was going to be worth it..
I gently flipped the kitten I was carrying over the fence, and in total abandon, surrendered my mortal body to the "beast".
Fortunately, I didn't end up getting killed. Just several scratches & bites here and there.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I was only reminded again of this memorable story this afternoon as I was having my quiet time. It made me relish those times when I didn't really mind what people thought of me. I just knew, and I was convinced, that I was doing the right thing. I was willing to die for a kitten.
That is probably one of my first heroic antics. Truthfully, I don't remember anything else that's as good or can come close to that.
But if I were willing to die for a cat, could I be willing to die for a friend?
Lord, my prayer is that you bring me back that heart of a servant. That heart that does not seek its own desires, but the benefit of others. May you make me humble, patient, loving and selfless just as you had been to me. Amen.

| "There is no free lunch"
A good friend of mine and I were talking earlier about how too many people get involved in get-rich-quick schemes (investment scams, forex scams, binary MLMs, etc.).
And sadly, some of them happen to be people in church.
Whatever happened to the biblical principles and convictions regarding work?
Anyone who is led by the wisdom of the Spirit should know that easy money is not in accorance to God's law, and is in fact, a fruit of greed. Especially if the profit is not preceded by hardwork, diligence, and patience.
All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty. - Proverbs 14:23
The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty. - Proverbs 21:5
Dishonest money dwindles away, but he who gathers money little by little makes it grow. - Proverbs 13:11
Never fool yourself into thinking that wealth can come easy. God said that he gave men the "ability to create" wealth. That means work will always be required. God does not spoil. He rewards. Everything comes with a price. It's either you pay now and play later, or play now and pay later. And the only accepted mode of payment here is HARDWORK.

| Women with beauty and brains, without character, are like butterflies. They may be pretty and fleeting, but they don't last. Women with character are like tortoises. They may be tough and rare, but they last very long. Now you ask, how about women w/ character but has neither beauty nor brains? I say character precedes beauty and brains. A woman with character is beautiful and smart. And I think tortoises are cute.

| There's been a lot of confusion regarding the true meaning of contentment. Here's my 2 cents' worth. I hope it simplifies what's needed to be simplified. "Contentment isn't settling for less. It is accepting what is given when all possible means are exhausted. Until that happens, never give up." The easiest & worst thing is to become mediocre. Live life to the fullest. "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." John 10:10 | comments: Leave a comment |
| Yesterday was a very interesting day.
I just found out last night that my friend Brandel, who celebrated his 27th birthday yesterday, is a distant cousin-in-law. It traces from way up the family tree. To add to that, almost all his relatives were pretty much the people I've grown up being around with since I was 7. It's unreal.
Anyway, had a fun celebration of his birthday at Joash's place in Mandaluyong. Joash's mom is an awesome cook. The food was great! Mapapapadyak ka sa sarap.
But the highlight of the night was probably brought by the "uninvited ones".
As the boys and the girls sat in 2 separate tables, a cockroach from out of nowhere comes flying towards our direction. In a snap of a finger, we were able to find out and prove who the real men were.
There were none.

| Jesus Versus The Secret - A Christians Guide to the Law of Attraction I'm probably one of the outdated ones. I'm not very familiar w/ this film, but it seems like everyone I've talked to is. Although the "Law of Attraction" does have some parallels w/ Christianity, there still is a vastness of difference in terms of its approach. This teaching, given the fact that it is convincing and potentially life-changing, has to be viewed w/ extreme caution and w/ proper guidance from the ultimate truth, which is still the Bible. This is not like one of those DaVinci Code stuff at all (although I can't believe a lot of people actually fell for that). This is something that is beyond fiction as it is backed up by scientific explanations and personal testimonies wherein it can actually be true.. or is true. But whether it is true or not, for a Christian, the underlying question still is, "Is God glorified?" A person may have "harmonic wealth" (wealth in all aspects of life) , but is God being glorified in his life? The Tower of Babel was being built by humans to represent greatness, unity, & pride, yet because God was not being glorified, he put a halt to their plans. The ultimate purpose of man is not to acquire "harmonic wealth", but to give glory & honor to his Maker. I found this great link that can ease any kind of confusion and give the Christian a biblical perspective regarding this subject. Enjoy.

| Man.. was I so pleased to see the movie. I'll watch it again for sure.
Here's how it played in my mind. Sort of my version of imdb.com (http://www.imdb.com)
Heath Ledger as Joker, as Satan Christian Bale as Batman, as Jesus Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Ecker/Two Face, as Man
Think about it. Harvey Ecker starts off as a good man, Joker gets the best of him and brings him down w/ him, he ruins himself and messes up big time, and then Batman takes the blame, saving his face from humiliation.
What a fitting illustration!
Think about it. | comments: Leave a comment |
| There's a phenomenon going on. Maybe the times have switched and it probably is a February already, the season of love.
Apparently, approximately 5 of my friends have all jumped aboard the "love boat" during the last 3 months. The last one happens to be a veeery close friend of mine.
I passed by for something at my boy kenny's place and decided to pay my girl friend (who lived nearby) a visit on my way home. I rang the doorbell and she was shocked to see me. We haven't seen each other for months. As I entered, I see this towering Iranian dude who's probably 6'3" tall.
EauJ: "Hey, how ya doin? My name's EauJ." Dude: "Hi. I'm __" (I don't remember his name)
I look back at my friend to ask who he is..
Friend: "Werdatim" EauJ: "What?" Friend: "Whurdeddin" EauJ: "What?" Friend: "Where dead in" EauJ: "What?" Friend: "Where day in!" EauJ: "What? You're dating?" Friend: "Yes!" EauJ: "OK."
It did take me a while. It's either I couldn't accept it, or I just couldn't comprehend.
My friend is Korean and we have a language barrier that we often break by laughing at ourselves.
When his "boyfriend" left, we started talking and I reminded her of our conversation 3 years ago when she told me how she doesn't like men except for his only guy friend: me.
I guess as seasons change, people change as well. My friend used to be a tomboy and to see her all prepped up and beautiful is something.. unusual for me.
When friends decide to be with someone, it's almost a given that lesser & lesser time would be available for them to spend on anything or on anyone else. But it's something I am very used to. It's something I always accept and never complain about.
I do miss my friends though. | comments: Leave a comment |

| There's this girl whom I had been noticing for the past few days. She hangs out w/ a friend and her friend's boyfriend. I was talking to a friend who happens to be her friend too. I told her, "she looks familiar, do you mind introducing her to me." And so we got introduced, but right then and there, she was already making sarcastic comments towards me, w/c I just kept being quiet about, not reacting. And so I already had a judgment that the lady's a brat. But I wasn't about to stick with that. I figured there should be something in her that I could be pleased with, just so I wouldn't have a bad taste in my mouth. And so I took the chance to bring my friend and her to their respective homes. I brought her last so we got to talk. And surprisingly, because of a little persistence and benefit of the doubt, I was able to learn of a very compassionate, selfless, kind, and loving daughter, granddaughter, sister, and friend.
She let me inside their house, introduced me to her family, let me sit and rest on the couch, and served me breakfast & dessert. While we were talking, she mentioned a word that I've never ever heard before:
Naaalibadbaran
I don't know what it means, but the word definitely speaks of her simplicity & genuine character.
As I went home, a single thought came to me:
"There is no greater feeling than breaking all barriers and penetrating the heart of a person to see what it's really made of."
It's like finding a treasure that's hidden in pain, pride, prententions, & fear. It requires a little patience.
I wish to find that treasure in every person I meet.

The seemingly unstoppable decline of the U.S. economy is forcing people to look for other options besides employment, traditional business, or any kind of profession. Network Marketing happens to be the perfect opportunity, and they're all going for it.
A similar yet worse decline is happening in the Philippines. Don't be surprised if it gets the same response.
Like how IT, nursing, & call centers used to be a trend, expect Network Marketing to be the NEXT BIG THING. Don't fool yourself into thinking that's never going to happen.
The good thing about Network Marketing is, like any traditional business, it's productivity based. With the advantage being: no big capital, no overhead, no advertising fees, no more rent, no employees, no more 9-5s, graveyard shifts & no more stress. That spells FREEDOM.
Employment won't get you anywhere but down. With the inflation rate being at an all-time high, and still getting higher, you'd even lose money just by keeping it in the bank. And you may have no idea that that's exactly what's happening right now.
And I don't care how much you earn. Once you stop working, money will stop coming in. A job will never give you residual income the way Network Marketing does.
Network Marketing is changing the course of history!
Find a good company though. There's a lot of crazy ones out there.
Here's how:
1. check for track record (accomplishments, consistency, # of people helped, etc) 2. product power (high value. unique. patented. it ain't worth being network marketed if you can get it elsewhere) 3. clear company goal (and never diverting from it) 4. marketing system (AVOID THIS TYPE OF COMPANIES: BINARY)
what kind of business has to balance 2 sides so you can profit? weird.
How can you tell if a company is legal or not?
If a company earns from recruitment, then that's a wrong business. But if the profit is through product movement like any kind of business, then that's a real business.
5. a supportive environment (positive & kind people who will lead you to success. anyone can tell if greed is in the air.)
"the smell of greed is as visible as the sun" - anonymous
6. generosity (to distributors, customers, society, & to people & causes that are in need)

| Everybody hates packing. Not me. Give me 10 minutes and I'll be done.
I'll do that in a while.
So here's my agenda for tomorrow before I leave for Singapore the following day.
- wake up at 7:30am - read until 8:30am - exercise til 9:15 - eat til 9:30 - shower til 9:45 - get dressed and go to the bank at 10am - go to the forex at 11am, or whenever I finish - head to the office before 1pm - appointments til 830pm - go home (?) or probably not. I'm thinking of bringing my stuff already and leaving the car in Ortigas(a safe place where nobody knows.. ;-p).
then come the following day, the 9th:
- leave Ortigas w/ partners at 3am for the airport - fly to Singapore at 6am via CebuPac - will land at around 930am - city tour - lunch w/ isteypi (i'd probably be w/o bath in 24hrs so i hope u don't mind) - leave for Genting, Malaysia at 6pm
then the day after that, the 10th:
- registration at 10am
It will be a time of learning until the 12th.
- I fly back on the 13th at 1am.

| I hold in high regard parents who work hard for the comfort that they could give to their families, especially their children. But I don't like their children. You know how most people would go from rags to riches or even further to filthy riches and then their children will get all the benefits that they worked hard for only to produce spoiled brats or kids who know nothing about the challenges of life. The world has evolved since the creation through technology. I believe in science. I do think that new discoveries and inventions make life a lot more exciting. But I have a strong belief that the reason for the advancement of technology is for efficiency, not comfort. It is to achieve more productivity in a lesser amount of time, to improve ways of communication, and to have an edge over traditional ways. But the work ethic it requires should not be any different. Unfortunately, not all people see it how it should be seen. For them, the world is a comfortable place to live in. Or they try to make it appear that way. I'm not saying that comfort is bad. But there is definitely something wrong with this picture: It was hardship that caused the parents to strive and maximize their potential to eventually realize that they are capable of producing wealth. It was comfort that made their kids stagnant, not knowing their potential and having no idea about life. The slightest challenge makes them curl up. Nothing is achieved w/ comfort, except what it already is. So if you want to become successful, then it's time that you learn how to appreciate hardships. | Employment is a contract between two parties, one being the employer and the other being the employee. An employee may be defined as: "A person in the service of another under any contract of hire, express or implied, oral or written, where the employer has the power or right to control and direct the employee in the material details of how the work is to be performed." Black's Law Dictionary page 471 (5th ed. 1979). I have a conclusion that the number one cause of traffic jam in Metro Manila, or anywhere else in the world, are the big companies. Think about it. Whenever a business grows in a certain area and becomes an established business organization, the demand for manpower elevates. Certain positions have to be filled in for services, inventory, accounting, management, manual labor, etc. So there goes the people flocking from out of their houses early in the morning to work for a company. Thus, the traffic jam. Not to mention the people squeezing their butts inside the metros. Or in other words, for whoever owns the company. A lot of people nowadays already have their minds fixed that all you need is a job for you to live. Call that survival. There's no such thing as job security nowadays. I doubt a person at 60yrs old can work as effectively as when he was 25. But dream on. You probably would have already been forced out of the company even before you hit 60. (But can you imagine still working at 60?) A certain fact for the employed: Lose your job, lose you life. Or at least your source of it. I'm a big fan of Rober Kiyosaki. Everyone should read his book "Rich Dad, Poor Dad". As a Bible-believing Christian, I believe that every single person has the ability to produce wealth (Deutoronomy 8:18). And by wealth, I mean passive income and not just tons of money (which will still dwindle down no matter how big it is so as long there's no passive income). Whether it be through having a business, creating certain assets, or by inventing or coming up w/ something really cool and having it patented so royalties can be earned through it. So who needs a job? Before I answer that, I think it is lack of financial literacy that's why people "settle for" employment. And I say "settle for" because there are people who don't really need it but are just after the "fun" of being in a working environment and the experience. Yeah right. Why work if it weren't for money? So who needs a job? Answer: Someone with immediate financial needs. A person who can't afford to have his or her own business or is not too creative or talented enough to invent something the world has not yet known. But whoever you are, don't get stuck there. 2-3 years is enough. I have nothing against jobs. I think it is a great & wonderful preparation to jump off to another venture such as business. Don't limit yourself to a 9-6, or to some weird working hours. You can only do that for so long. Save up! Start your own business when you can. Make good investments. Read business books to increase your financial literacy. Help others do the same. But just in case having a traditional business is not possible yet, there are opportunities out there that your eyes may not have seen yet. For the meantime, I challenge everyone to become an entrepreneur. I believe that entrepreneurs are the backbone of our economy. We have a huge debt to pay the World Bank and the last thing we need is another "employee". With people like us, there is hope. We will all start businesses as entrepreneurs. And we will do it for one reason: To make better the traffic situation of our country. That would also mean less air pollution. | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
